1G

1G stands for first generation mobile communication. This type of mobile devices use analog communications standards. They were introduced in the 1980's and have since then been replaced by 2G, 3G and 4G devices. 1G speeds vary between actual download speeds of 2.9KBytes/s to 5.6KBytes/s.

4G

4G is the fourth generation of cellular wireless standards. It is a successor to the 3G and 2G families of standards. 4G service is rated between at 100 Mbit/s for high mobility communication (such as from trains and cars) and 1 Gbit/s for low mobility communication (such as pedestrians and stationary users).
